VDK/DIACETYL ANALYSIS CLASS, HOSTED BY JON CAMPBELL
February 5, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Jon Campbell, our clubs Education Chair, will be hosting a class all about Diacetyl in your homebrewing. What is Diacetyl? As Jon puts it, “you have heard of the the dreaded diacetyl (butter and butterscotch), right? Did you know that there is a precursor to diacetyl called vicinal diketone that can be coaxed out by heating wort in a simple stove top test? Also, how do you know your fermentation is in fact complete? A negative VDK test will prove that A) your fermentation is in fact complete, and B) that diacetyl will NOT show up in your finished product. This is an especially good class for anyone making hoppy IPA beers that want to ensure maximum freshness as dry hopping can restart fermentation and create more diacetyl production.” You can find more information and RSVP a spot by replying to Jon in an email titled [Hotv] VDK/Diacetyl Analysis Class.
